Perfecting Aspirated End-of-word Consonants. Part 1
More than just book-learning. Building new habits and breaking out of old ones requires a focused program to succeeed. Here is one.
A simple tongue twister to practice the end-of-word "z" sound.
1. repeat clearly 3 times. speak as slowly as necessary. Step one is all about getting it correct. the key is to make all 3 "z" sounds the same. You yourself make perfect "z" sounds on the first 2 words. "Razing razing". The last though, is an end-of-word aspirated consonant. Something not in local languages and requiring some practice to perfect. Thats what this does.
2. Check yourself and have your teacher check you. Remember, one learns to listen as one learns to speak, so you cannot directly correctly hear yourself... You can record yourself though. Also, there's a trick in the vid. All 3 "z" sounds should be the same. repeat, repeat.
Last step. Teacher and others say you sound perfect. Now try faster. We now want to go faster than your brain forcing muscle memory to take over. Practice alot. After some time, you will find you can cook and watch TV while practicing. Congrats!
After, Try level 2. it adds some difficulty and length and focuses on plurals (iz, z).
After several poems and about 4 months, all end-of-word consonants, consonant clusters and vowel/dipthongs will be mastered individually and the habits built bleed into normal speaking over a short time.
There's your first lesson free. My phonetic program is stand-alone for all-ages and also a part of all "normal" speaking courses. Hope it helps.
